Read onlineTell me what the T-shirt says.  Now flip your screen upside down and tell me what it says.  The image is based upon a concept that Martin Luther promoted: that we are all saints and sinners at the same time.  Often these two (sinner and saint) are thought of as opposites: saints are Super-christians that are better than everyone else and sinners are not christian at all (or really bad ones).  When the two words are combined, we are reminded that we fit them both.  You are a saint because the word simply means someone who is part of the church.  You are also a sinner because you make mistakes. On All Saints day, we remember the faithfully departed; particularly those from our church who have passed in the last year.  In remembering them, we are reminded of the good that they did and we can emulate.  We're also reminded that they weren't perfect and made mistakes, but are still saints.  And in remembering that, "saint" is a title we can all claim. After reading the scriptures for this day, discuss the following questions with someone else:

  1. Share a story about someone who modeled being a saint for you.

  2. As a saint, one thing I feel called to do is . . .

  3. Share how it makes you feel to hear that you are both a saint and a sinner.
