HOLY WEEK

Holy Week Schedule (March 29 - April 5)

Holy Week is the last week of Lent.  During it, we follow Jesus through the week leading to his Death and Resurrection.  During the week, there are several opportunities to engage in worship and reflection.  

Sunday, March 29th - Palm/Passion Sunday.We begin worship by joining in the story of Jesus’ procession into Jerusalem while waving palm branches.  Throughout the service we read the story of Jesus’ passion.

Wednesday, April 1st - Spy Wednesday.This day is called Spy Wednesday because the traditional reading for today is Judas negotiating to betray Jesus.  This evening we will have a special screening of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar.  Popcorn will be provided, bring your own beverage.

• 5:30PM - Watch Jesus Christ Superstar (Grace)               (conclude by 7:30PM) 

Thursday, April 2nd - Maundy ThursdayNamed because of the command (maundy is Old English for mandate) that Jesus gives his disciples to love one another.  We will be gathering for a special meal at Christ United.  All are invited to explore life’s journeys as we look at the Exodus story from the Bible and retell it in word and food.  A light meal of bread and lamb will accompany this experience and participants are invited to help in preparing the food.  

• 6:00PM - Journey Meal, meal @ 7:00;  (Christ United)

Friday, April 3rd - Good FridayWorship is a core experience of remembering Jesus’ crucifixion and death.  There are two worship opportunities.  At Christ United we will experience a Tenebrae service and at Grace the choir will offer their Lenten Cantata.  

• 12:00PM - Noon Tenebrae service (Christ United)

• 7:00PM - Good Friday Cantata and worship (Grace)
